It's been a very long time since I posted in an unaffected state, but luckily the repercussions of Desai's many modifications have not deterred me from my duties. Since the last debacle, school has resumed. I find myself longing for times when I avoided the formal schooling process entirely, however this final year of secondary education will undoubtedly be the most influential in regards to career placement.

Presently, the flow of course work and various responsibilities with the police department has slowed. Most likely I will use this temporary break in unnatural and occupational hazards to investigate issues of a more personal significance.

Yes, I have experience as a private investigator, so I have opted to lend my abilities to the police force during my stay.

I'm seventeen, but I've been investigating crimes for nearly ten years now. My name is Shirogane Naoto, and my family is from a long line of private detectives in Japan.

It's very nice to meet you, Detective Pezzini. In a place like this we certainly need all the assistance available to us.

Ten years huh? That's quite something. I can't say I started quite as early myself but I'm from an old New York cop family so I know the feeling at least.

As someone from a similar upbringing, I'm sure you understand the pervasiveness a detective's work can have on his household. Assisting my grandfather with his caseload dominated much of my childhood, so I was able to cultivate a reputation for myself at an early age. Here, of course, I must start from the ground up. It's different, but not without merit.

I do indeed. Sounds like you won't have too much trouble climbing to the the top-or wherever you wish to go, though. Sometimes entering a new field and starting over can be nice too. Desai sure bring it's own unique challenges as well.

Belatedly, formalities are unnecessary- Shirogane will do just fine. If you must add one, however, Ms would be more appropriate.

Oh! I'm sorry, I just--that's great to see another girl on the force! Couldn't tell you how many times I've had it told to me that women shouldn't solve crime, It's good to know the younger generation knows better.

Yes, I supposed I've struggled with similar gender barriers. I'm still in the process of accepting that myself.

Not entirely. I know I want to respect the Shirogane legacy and continue my role as a private investigator, though.

I've dedicated my life to this. Were you doing something different when you were my age?

Eh. School wasn't really my thing. Not only that, but the schools where I grew up on Mars really weren't that good. I figure I'm doing all right without it.

Yeah. Not really all it's cracked up to be, to be honest. It's great if you've got money, but not so great for the rest of us.
